Royal Birkdale

We were asked by Kiawah Partners to design a speculative residence for three specific plots in one of their key communities, Cassique Clubhouse Village at Kiawah Island. Tasked with respecting Cassique’s distinctive aesthetic inspired by Charles F.A. Voysey’s Arts and Crafts-style architecture while maximizing views of the Lowcountry’s marsh vistas, we developed a slightly elevated structure that yielded a surprisingly personal and intimate environment. Maintaining a connection with the landscape through a softened color pallet and abundant natural light, the design responds to the necessities of the Lowcountry environment: areas of shade and deliberate cross breeze opportunities. A spacious, open-concept invites opportunities for entertaining and family accommodation maximizing usage of the ground and first floor levels.
