Our challenge: create a unique aesthetic comprised of high quality materials channeling Charles F.A. Voysey’s architectural style married with the needs of coastal, lowcountry living. Taking our directives and knowing that this home would be need to have enough character variations to allow it to be built multiple times in close proximity, we designed to appeal to modern contemporary lifestyles with a warmth and familiarity that could not be compromised. Upon entry of the home guests are greeted by the beauty of the marshlands and ocean beyond as they are led toward the veranda of the house designed to accommodate humid climates with long views. Open, with expanses of glass that are protected by large overhangs, the exterior palette makes use of wood shingles, natural plaster stucco, wood and copper details, and expressive heavy timbers.
