Several years ago, we reached an agreement to have your firm design the home that our investment group planned to build on the island of St Kitts, now our home is complete. It is unparalleled in its beauty, function and fitness for the Caribbean environment… We all know that this house will withstand nature’s elements with strength and architectural integrity.

Certainly, we were all challenged, but you excelled. There were the challenges of shipping materials and coordinating the efforts of sub contractors. You handled those very well. As cost escalated, we found ways to reduce the price without compromising the aesthetics or the function of the project.

If I had to choose one thing that made the most difference in the overall house, it would be the foresight you used in situating the building on the land. Your careful and thoughtful planning provided views of the Atlantic, the Yacht Harbor and the Caribbean along with the volcano on Nevis.

Scott, you are to be congratulated. You are as much an artist as an architect. Your commitment to excellence and your vision will make your firm successful for many years to come. My investors and I are glad to have been a part of your first house in the Caribbean. Now, with you, I look forward to the next.

We found Scott Anderson by sheer luck. Two years ago we decided to build a second home on Kiawah Island. Already we had a clear vision of what kind of vacation home we wanted, but because we live in New York City, and do not spend a lot of time in Charleston, we were not familiar with local architects. We had contacted an architect firm in San Francisco because we loved their work, but then realized that the distance might pose problems once the work began.

On that day two years ago, we drove around Kiawah Island in the hopes of finding a house that embodied something of our vision; and on Ocean Drive we saw the house. It was completely different than any house on Kiawah that we had seen. To our eyes, the breathtaking house had been designed with an intent to blend into the natural surroundings of Kiawah; and what had been achieved was the perfect balance between smart, innovative design and a true respect for the geography and history of Kiawah, especially in terms of conservation. It did not take us long to find the name of the architect, and that was Scott.

After only one phone call, we knew that Scott was the architect with whom we wanted to work. His openness and his enthusiasm were contagious. We drew up our vision for this vacation home, and for the past year Scott has brought this vision to life. He has accomplished this in a well-balanced, pragmatic, and creative manner, and every step of the way he has added tremendous insight to the process. He has handled our wishes, and the demands of the Kiawah Review Board, skillfully and graciously; and the house plans were approved.

In summary, working with Scott and his team of able, intelligent, and always helpful individuals, has been a truly positive and enjoyable experience, and we highly recommend his services.

We have been clients of Scott Anderson for approximately 2-3 years. His firm was the architect for our 4000 sq. ft “New England shingle-styled home married with Californian Greene & Greene architecture” located on Kiawah Island which was completed in Dec. 09.We could not have been happier or more thrilled with the entire project beginning with the design phase, the construction phase and finally the interior design phase. From the beginning, my wife and I relayed to Scott and his team that utilizing, distinguishable features in the design were a distinct priority of ours. Scott’s ideas were innovative and surprising. Scott designed special roof details and unique elliptical windows in the house framing special moments like the main stair and pool. The elliptical window near the main entry also allows us to steal glimpses of our friends right as they come to our door. His pool design required no rails, giving us the unobstructed views of the marsh and Kiawah River we so wanted.

Scott and his staff, particularly his lead interior designer, Emily Cox, were a pleasure to work with. Throughout the house, the furniture, the wallpaper, the lighting and plumbing fixtures seamlessly work together to create a house with charms tailored just for us. The compliments we receive from friends and visitors are countless. The collaboration and communication of Scott and his team were impeccable. We are completely thrilled and delighted with our new home and feel it is one of a kind on Kiawah. The project started on time and was completed in 1 year, significantly less than what we were quoted by other architects and construction firms. We are now completing Scott’s renovation of our California home. Scott’s strong work ethic in his firm cannot be disputed. He always made himself available to answer our questions; he was always obliging and personable and always kept us informed on the progress. The teamwork executed between Scott and Brian Coco, our general contractor were flawless.
